Brave Challenge from AFC Wimbledon at The Street Soccer National tournament
Last week the Street Soccer Academy National Champions Trophy event 2024 was played out in a great spirit at the iconic London Stadium, with AFC Wimbledon Foundation putting forward a strong effort, narrowly missing out on making the final.
A total of 18 teams took part with a little under 200 young people in attendance brought together from all over the country. Although it was a cold one, it was a fantastic, sunny day for it. Although they didn’t win the whole thing, our AFC Wimbledon Foundation team picked up individual honours, with Jay winning player of the Tournament.
2024 National Awards on the Day:
Player of the Tournament: Jay (AFC Wimbledon)
Golden Gloves: Wayne (Everton)
Golden Boot: Thomas (Peterborough United)
Fair Play Award: West Ham United Foundation
National Runners Up: Sheffield Wednesday (Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme)
National Winners: Peterborough United (The Posh Foundation)
A massive congratulations to all the above - and in particular to the newly crowned National Champions, Peterborough and the Posh Foundation!
Well done to everyone in our AFC Wimbledon Foundation team, they represented the club brilliantly and it was a fantastic experience for them that they all thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you to the Street Soccer Foundation for hosting a fantastic event.
